Extended Battery Option for 3v DC/ two AAs?
Hello All,
I am trying to find an extended battery for a radio transceiver that runs off of two AAs or a 3v DC current. Are there any extended battery options? Maybe some way I could hook up a deep discharge, deep cycle battery?

Deep Cycle refers to lead-acid batteries used in electric carts and scooters to differentiate from regular lead-acid batteries that are used in cars. Car batteries are intended to only supply the current to start the car, then recharge on a trickle charge to maintain a full charge. Deep Cycle batteries are specially designed to continuously provide power until the battery has been mostly discharged. Such deep cycle usage would render damage to normal car batteries after only a few usages.
For electronic devices, extended batteries such as lithium-ion are nothing more than larger batteries that can supply current for a longer time before draining below usable levels. For AA, the only extended version use to be the larger C or D size batteries. Fortunately, these days, you can find lithium (not lithium-ion) that last about 8x longer than regular alkalines. Unlike lithium-ion technology, lithium batteries are not rechargeable.
For rechargeable AA batteries, there is still only the NiMh option. For extended life, pick a set that’s rated for 2500 mAh, rather than the wimpier 1200 mAh variety.
