Data, is consist of many component and when it put it together it becomes an information. For a company, one man’s behavior is a data. How you eat,what time you work, how many times you go to restaurant, what’s your hobbies,etc. Many factor that we could get from one person. That is why company usually doing questioner to grab data direct from customer and HOPE that you will get an honest answer. This method still use but not effective and not accurate. That’s why company now use sales reports and marketing research to collect accurate data.

Small company usually using data access to make a report. But bigger company could use data warehousing. Both of it use different technology. Data access only need to use Relational databases(RDBMS) or SQL, while data warehousing use OLAP,multidimensional databases. About cost, you name it. The smarter technology the more expensive the price. It is not just only about capacity to restore data, but also how fast you could pull out data and generate it as a report and also how far you could forecast using this technology.Datawarehousing could handle giant data for such company like retailing,banking,insurance,airlines,brokerage,hospital. They need to keep data for every year and keep it to make comparison and become a guide for company to search information. Such as how is the leverage of profit of company and from which sector, what’s the trend and when it usually happens.

You see, many positive reasons to build a good data base to organize data.Company needs to understand which technology needs to use and compatible with their company.
