Choi Honored

South Koreans are mourning the death of a former boxing champion, 33 year old, Choi Yo-Sam who fell into a coma after winning his fight in late of December 2007.

According to Dr. Lee Sung-Gyu, in charge of organ transplant at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Choi suffered brain injuries due to multiple punches in the head. He was officially declared dead in Jan. 2nd 2008, while his relatives were standing beside his hospital bed.

But despite the loss of the family, they were lauded when they decided to donate Choi’s kidneys, heart, liver and corneas to six patients. His cartilage and bone were also given to a tissue bank.
