Winter Care for your dog

dogs-in-the-snow.jpgIt’s winter and most people want to let their dogs out, well really need to take their dogs out. But there are things you should do to make sure your dogs are safe outside.

Don’t let your cats out at all! They aren’t able to handle the cold.

Shovel a path to your dogs favorit spot. That way he won’t have to go through the snow to get to it.

If your dog lives outside make sure the shelter is off the ground. Put dry straw and blankets inside the shelter to insulate it for them. And if it’s below -6 degrees Celsius let him in.

Keep your dog on a leash outside. A dog can lose his scent in the snow and go missing really quick.

Look for signs of frostbite your dog’s skin turns red, grey, white or black, or he’s limping or favouring one of his feet. If you see these things get him inside and call a vet.
