In The Spirit Of Christmas Movies

Published by admin | Filed under misc sites review, movie

When that time of year comes around again, you know the same old Christmas movies will be shown. Do you groan in horror? Or do you smile and look forward to the classics? A recent post on topishot.com placed the top 20 Christmas movies of all time in a list. What does it prove? Well, to start with, the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” falls in 20th place. At the other end of the spectrum, the first three places have gone to modern day comedies, suggesting that the public’s taste in films has changed. Whereas previously it was preferred to curl up on the sofa with a nice glass of wine and watch a (black-and-white) classic with a feel-good ending, now, it seems that comedies, cringe-worthy or otherwise, win out in the end. The majority of the films though, seem to be family-orientated with kids outsmarting adults, a theme enjoyed by all! Bruce Willis makes an appearance in Die Hard 2, Arnie also makes the cut in Jingle All The Way, and there’s even a horror thrown in at number 19! Home Alone gets a double billing with both 1 and 2 featuring in the top 20 list, and the outstanding Miracle on 34th Street sits at a dismal number 13. All in all, though, not a bad selection for the Christmas season.
