Backgammon Back In

Published by admin | Filed under misc sites review, entertainment, culture, games, internet

In Greece, the old men who are retired, sit in cafes and play backgammon. Women are not allowed, unless they’re serving the coffee! The game in Greek is called “Taveli”, and played on old inlaid boards, the dice flung with habitual contempt should the numbers on the dice not match what they want. Backgammon is one of those games that seem to be easy, but in reality is a game requiring quite a high level of competency and skill. Backgammon.org (http://www.backgammon.org/) professes to be the largest online site dedicated to the game and offers interesting information, forums for beginners’ through to very skilled players. You can play backgammon online, ask questions of any of the other 10,000 members, and even take online lessons.

There are articles offering helpful tips, suggestions, strategies and more, for an exciting game, which ultimately requires a lot of patience. Additionally, international competition results are posted there too. Focus falls frequently on the double cube as well as the question of whether computer-generated dice are actually random or not. For outsiders to the backgammon world, it’s a little confusing at first, however, perseverance does pay off as backgammon teaches you a lot more than just how to roll a dice and push a marker around a velvet-clad board!
