Keychain Lasers Make Great Pointers
The first time I saw keychain laser pointers was years back when one of my friends used it playfully to point out things. I was truly fascinated by the straight red light pointing things to near perfection. Most of all it was good to see that such a small handheld device could throw so much light and that too with very little power supply which is normally a couple of cells. It was certainly a thing to own. But since then, the industry has changed tremendously. With so much advancement in technology, scientists have found out innovative ways to use laser beams for a variety of purposes. These have now found their use in construction industries, education sector, military instruments, scientific research and many other areas as well.
Gone are those days when there used to be only red laser key chains. Nowadays, there are other laser wavelengths also available that are in other colors like orange, green, blue and purple. Red laser keychain pointers however still remain the cheapest due their easier manufacturing process and hence lesser production costs. Other lasers keychains like green and blue are still more expensive than red lasers. Lately green keychain laser pointers of 100mw high power has become more and more popular in many areas. Due to greater intensity, green laser beam is more focused than red laser light. These travel great distances and also produce clear light even in darkness, fog or dust.
The only two drawbacks of green laser pointers are the fact that since their manufacturing costs are higher, these come out to be more expensive than red laser pointers. However these are easily available over the internet and one can find good deals to buy them at an affordable price. Secondly, high power green keychain laser pointers might be fatal when not used properly. There are a few things to take care of while using these. One thing is that these should never be pointed straight to anyone’s eyes for a long period of time. If done so, then it may cause permanent damage of eyes leading to blindness. Also, prolonged exposure to laser beams should be avoided for any surface. Another fact is the disposal of lasers itself. These are not easily biodegradable and should not be left in the open. One would need to dispose them off with caution.
The best thing about keychain laser pointers is that they are handy. This means, these can be carried anywhere since they would easily fit into your handbag and can be used anywhere. And as the name says, these serve dual purpose since these works as a keychain from the other end. Although technology is bringing out newer things in the market, these are still one of the favorite gift items or even office stationery items. Since these are handy in many official presentations or academic lectures, the sale of keychain laser pointer have seen a growth lately. But as the quality of lasers increases, the prices also go up. So take a decision on your budget before going for a keychain laser pointer.
