Established in 1896, the NFPA, (National Fire Protection Association), is an non-profit organization that sets national (and international) standards for installing and maintaining fire alarm systems, electrical systems, and building safety systems throughout the world.
According to their website, the NFPA membership totals more than 81,000 individuals around the world and more than 80 national trade and professional organizations.
Although its main purpose is to set uniform standards for fire alarm systems of various types, it also affects hundreds of other industry types as well.
Wherever you look, from office buildings, to medical facilities… even local gas stations, the Nation Fire Protection Association affects every aspect of our daily lives. The precedence It sets on industry has a direct affect on your well-being and life safety.
On their website, the NFPA has available for download, a list of over 250 publications that cover everything from protective clothing, hazardous materials, emergency services, gasoline pumps, and even health-related fitness programs for firemen. The only requirement to download these publications for free viewing is that one must register as a visitor.
Whether you are a building engineer, a fireman, or hold the responsibility of maintaining life safety personal and/or equipment for your business, you should become familiar with NFPA codes as they are the main authority for standards, research, training, and education in the fire protection industry.
What is NFPA 72 and how does it relate to the fire alarm industry?
The NFPA 72, by its’ own definition, covers the application, installation, location, performance, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, fire warning equipment and emergency warning equipment, and their components.
Although there are many other sources available for fire alarm installation/application standards, many of these other sources refer back to the NFPA and particularly, NFPA 72 when it concerns fire safety.
Two good examples would be the International Building Code and the 101 Life Safety Code.

hidden cameras houston Questions
Could fake, robotic pigeons be used for surveillance to combat gang activity and violence?
Why not? Have you ever seen some of these animated birds at the Tiki Tiki room at DisneyWorld’s jungle safari? Why can’t the government spend some money wisely for a change? We should have robot pigeons flying over every urban area where gangs are thriving and growing out of control. Like just about everywhere! Especially Detroit, Atlanta, Houston and Sacramento. If pigeons don’t reside in those southern locations, then maybe faux mockingbirds could be used. These birds–whatever the species–could be outfitted with video camera “eyes” (and feet, for aerial views) and machine guns hidden neath their feathery wings.
Sounds like an idea. I don’t think they’d be big enough to carry machine guns, though. A hand grenade or other similar explosive probably wouldn’t be too hard, though.
