Missing world’s largest elephant may be dead

Published by admin | Filed under environment

The world’s largest elephant, Raja Gaj, has not been seen for a year in its captivity, the Nepal’s Royal Bardia National Park, Japan Today reported on Tuesday. Raja Gaj once created a buzz among animal lovers and scientists because his sheer size and peculiar head shape associated him closely with the extinct species such as the mammoths and also the mastodons. However, after going through a DNA test, it was confirmed that he is an Asian elephant. Until last year before his disappearance, Raja Gaj was the main attraction of Nepal’s national park. His long disappearance makes the conservation staffs at Nepal assume that the elephant may have been killed by poachers.
