Wii, not a substitute for exercise

Published by Cheetezz | Filed under entertainment, sports, games, health

The assumption that Wii players do not need to do regular exercises is totally wrong, experts say. Although Wii players have to be active by moving their body to play Wii games, it is not a substitute for exercises. Instead, they are strongly encouraged to carry out moderate to vigorous exercises, such as playing soccer, at least one hour per day. Compared to playing Wii, the energy to play Nintendo Wii is not as intense as the energy required to play soccer, for example. They also only use 2% more energy compared to playing other game consoles, and this is not high enough to reach the level of energy required to do exercises. Hence, although Wii has topped the Christmas ‘must-have’ list this year, spending long time in front of the TV monitor because of playing Wii can result in physical inactivity, and in the end, obesity and other pertaining health diseases.
