Russia President Appears on Judo Manual

Russia president, Vladimir Putin, will appear on judo DVD produced by Japan with Olympic champion Yasuhiro Yamashita from Japan. The DVD is planned to be released in January or February 2008. Putin and Yamashita have attended a judo lesson in Russia city, St.Petersburg, about two years ago after they met in Japan. Putin admits that he loves judo because judo particularly teaches the players how to respect their opponents. He also joined many judo competitions since his election as Russia’s president in 2000. Putin was also known to often show his physical prowess in other sports such as downhill skiing. It was him who made judo popular in Russia, and now there are about 200,000 Russians who are practicing judo.
