Names’ Days
Published by admin | Filed under culture
In Greek Orthodox religion, every person (who has to be named after a saint, and is usually named after one of their grandparents) has the day on which the saint is celebrated as their Name Day. Usually, on names’ days the person who is celebrating is obligated to provide a small cake or treat to anybody who wishes them a Happy Name Day. Of course, they also get presents on their Name day. As far as children are concerned, it’s an excellent system as it’s just like having two birthdays!
