Why Experian is Mad at LifeLock

Published by admin | Filed under criminality, internet

Lifelock – a leading consumer security protection provider – is currently facing lawsuits for fraud as well as false advertising. Experian has recently joined the melee, saying that LifeLock – or any third party, for that matter – has no right or capability to place fraud alerts for the members of LifeLock.

Obviously, Experian is hurting. Specifically, it is feeling the pinch caused by LifeLock’s identity theft protection services. First, LifeLock sets fraud alerts on behalf of its members when the need for it arises – and it costs this credit bureau money to comply with such fraud alert requests. Next, LifeLock also provides its members the option to opt-out of pre-approved offers (especially pre-approved credit card offers), and this is cutting in on Experian’s profits from selling information to its partner companies.
