Automation Wall Questions
Can I switch my bathroom fan and my bathroom light off and on independently?
I have a bathroom fan and light that are on the same circuit (same switch) but I’d like to operate them independently. One option is to tear open the walls and rerun the wiring. I could do it, but I don’t really want to. Anyone know of a home automation solution (like a remote switch)?
You might be able to figure a way to use a remote control wall switch (wireless). Two switches on different channels. It would take some electrical knowledge to wire in the outlet and plug the fan and light into separate outlets in the ceiling. Remove the light/fan fixture, install a duplex outlet (break the tab between the outlets) and wire in the wireless remote. This may still be cheaper than another wire run.
Otherwise, it’s pulling an additional run.

I think I’ve seen them in Home Depot and/or Lowe’s. Other hardware stores with a lighting section might carry them.
